Three Legs are Better Than Four - Meet Toto and Theo.

Working in rescue you meet dogs everyday, sometimes multiple new dogs a day, and sometimes those dogs have a history or a current situation that seems understandable with their appearance in the rescue sphere. As sad as that reality is, some dogs need help, either overcoming trauma, learning how to trust humans again or simply learning the world with the guidance of compassionate rescue workers. 

And then you get dogs like Toto and Theo. Two of the soppiest and sweetest dogs you might ever meet, if you are lucky enough to meet them that is. These boys have had the rockiest of starts in life, homeless in Romania, injuries causing them to lose a limb each and now mercifully finding themselves at Love Underdogs. A rescue that, unlike other "rescues" never gives up on finding a dog the space they need in this world.


Here is the really devastating part of this story; Toto and Theo have had no interest in adoption for months. Despite being wonderfully friendly and trusting dogs (even with their histories), these two genuinely great dogs are missing the chance to really experience a loving home life with a family that will show them that this world is worth trusting again. 

I have had the privilege of working with these two very closely, I was there when Toto hopped off the delivery vehicle that brought him to our rescue from across the sea and I was there when he first recognised a human he could trust in giving me his head to cuddle and shake off the journeys trembles. 

Seeing these great dogs roll around on their backs, explore the wilds of our surroundings and light up when they see you heading their way. It has left a fire burning in me that wont be extinguished until these two BOTH have a family willing to show them that life they deserve.

Theo

Theo is only 2 years and 9 months old, likes some dogs but has a dislike of French bulldogs and likely other flat faced breeds. His fondness of cats has not been tested and this handsome soulful boy has been neutered. Like most rescues, he can start nervous with new men, but that quickly falls away with the help of some treats and patience.



Toto

Toto
Toto is slightly older at 4 years and 11 months, he is a larger boy with a fluffy coat that will keep someone keen busy with a nice brush and groom. Toto has been keen to make friends with dogs inside and outside the rescue, he is also neutered and unfortunately would not be suitable with children due to his love of standing up and planting his remaining front poor on your shoulder to give you his version of a hug.

I want to find these boys a home, they deserve a home, and with the help of some kind people we can spread the world until the right pair of eyes land upon them.

After all, these two are perfect for someone who enjoys a truly loyal and cuddly companion in the home, or someone who has time to give short walks and enjoy the rest of the day pottering around in the garden with these gorgeously brave dogs. I would put my entire life savings on the fact that, if you came to meet either of these boys, you will fall in love with them just as I have.

 Bulldog: Too Many Monsters has been my most successful book release to date. Quickest summary possible for those unfamiliar with the story; its a dystopic military horror set in the United Kingdom after being invaded by an unknown army. Residents are plunged into sick contests to see if they can survive against the mysterious, horrifying, hordes of monsters the invaders have brought with them. That's the elevator pitch anyway.  I came up with the idea after having two dreams back to back that appeared identical, in similar vain as the mini-blurb above. Originally this was intended to be a short story, perhaps a couple of pages, instead this has morphed and oozed itself into a fleshed out series of horror books. New Life For This Stumbling Corpse

It's a Wednesday, the first in four weeks that I've had off, and guess what I did. I finally landed on that cursed mailing list that has been testing my patience and sanity for weeks. It's done. It's over. The beast of a chore is dead and buried six feet below alongside my aspirations to be a professional wrestler.  Oh, what could have been. I toyed with the ideas of Wix, Squarespace and yadda yadda yadda but none felt right. What comes next and where have I been?

What comes next? I wont lie to you my filthy little lurking shoulder parrots, this first month of the new year 2025 has been testing. Not in the way that a conversation with a moron can be labelled "testing" but more akin to your entire life being reshuffled over the domino effect of a poorly planned schedule. Allow me to be real for a second, I love the tumultuous nature of my life, I adore the reckless nature it takes lurching from one adventure to another and never landing on the sinking cement of a trapped endeavour.  With all that poetic dribble laid out for you, I am leaving my post at the animal sanctuary and moving onto pastures greener, and nearer. Long story short, its been coming, but I had for the most part enjoyed working at the charity. I am at the daunting midway point of a break from work. The days have trickled by as I mixed up seeing family, farting about in the local towns, playing Diablo 4 with the wife and finally getting my collective faecal matter together in the writing projects that lingered over my burnt out corpse. After having gone through stage zero of my eleven step plan to push book sales, and ideally become a more active writer and less active marketer, I have tidied up the established novels that I have published. Given them a fresh kick up the backside and turned my attention back to the always present task of finishing the Bulldog sequel (Bulldog 2: And Dead Mouths Open).  With the weight of this tarting up of my old works now complete, I have turned my attention to this unfinished follow up and the always nagging task of getting more visible reviews on Amazon to shift more books. What's in a title?

Instead of landing on a finalised name for my latest, and almost completed, short story (currently title Bulldog). I got thinking on what exactly makes a great title. Obviously its natural to look to the greats without feeling even a sense of the underlying reality, that is that even the authors and producers of the iconic backbones of cinema and literature likely struggled all the same. Now this blog entry isn't at all a massive time wasting distraction from my actual editing work, in fact it might actually turn into a side quest that could lead to a name suddenly appearing on the screen! Jaws, Star Wars, IT, Misery, The Shining, Hunger Games, Frankenstein, Dracula and Dune stick out as the absolute best titles in recent and distant memory. Naturally you would want something punchy, timeless and a word/phrase that will encapsulate and visualise your entire premise to the reader perusing your book cover at the store (and by store I obviously mean online).  When it came to naming my...
