Been a Minute

It's not often that I go this long without an update on the blog page, I have some anxieties growing about the deadly silence from my end so I thought it best to dip into the pool of my own nonsensical journal entires and give you another memo. Subject, all the goings on you grubby little creatures have come to expect. So lets get into the oatmeal, shall we?

Perhaps it was the lack of general work on the books that kept me away, I finished the short story involving the deathly unfortunate brothers and a particualrly violent geyser. Then I sort of just fell away from the writing for a bit. Angel hasnt been well, her kidney disease has taken a bad turn and I think we are now approaching the end of her life - as painful as that is type. She had vets and bloods, urine, pressure and all sorts of new meds prescribed, it has been tough but she is still hanging around for us and still being her adorable little chubby self - albeit not-so chubby now. 

I am currently in a bit of a tizzy with Amazon, they sent me a confirmation that my KDP account was closed and suddenly I am receiving payments from books sold; something I need to look into as I swore off them a while back. I am still sticking to my promise of not criticising them anymore, I dont need that energy wasted on that company. 

What else is going on?

Work at the rescue has been tough, we are into what feels like the five hundreth heat wave of the year - BUT EVERYTHING IS FINE, DONT WORRY ABOUT THE CLIMATE! - I keep starting early and getting as many dogs walked as possible before the worst of the heat. I wonder how they manage this in countries that are regularly over 30 degrees, must be hell for those poor animals and their handlers. We rehomed Scrabble (a personal fav), Aladdin, Nellie, Roo, Peggy, Moose, Trimi and a bunch of other dogs that have been lingering around for too long. With a team that actually cares about the dogs now being trained up, we are getting somewhere amazing and it feels like rehab for the first time. I noticed my weird little time-wasting blog about Bottom, in which I ranked every episode, did really well on the old stats. Over fifty reads since it was posted, very suprising seeing as that show is rather niche and also ranking blogs are incredibly overdone. It was a fun little time waster, although I have no further immediate plans for a follow up. 

I think I am running out of things to talk about; I had some madness with my car breaking down but that is also fixed for the time being. It has been both extremely busy as of late and somehow extremely unproductive. But that is life right?

Just Another Update From a Tired Writer.

Perhaps it was the freedom that came from taking my work away from Amazon, but I feel very excited in some kind of way that feels both understated and "professional" for lack of a better word. I have been slacking in terms of getting another blog update out with any news on the current projects; I could blame the heat, work being tough or wanting to take some time to enjoy simple hobbies that got kicked to the side. But in reality, I have just not had the motivation to write over the last few days.  What that looks like is still likely better than some; I have two ongoing projects, one new and one ongoing that I hope to finish before the end of the year. While I have taken time on projects before, Bulldog 3 is really putting me through the inferno of patience. Ranking Every Episode of Bottom

British comedy is unlike any other countries, it falls somewhere between utterly dry and outrageously slapstick that is defines what our nation loves and hates. We have the sophisticated scenario jokes in Blackadder, the uncomfortably real The Office, the acid trip fever dream Mighty Boosh and one of my personal favourites; Bottom.  Its a strange one, I cant really explain why exactly I love this show. It is horrible really, two degenerate middle aged men; one an alcholoic substance abusing violent gambler and the other a sexually inept, utterly insane wanna be upper-class weirdo. They arent likeable, they arent even relatable, but I cannot stop watching them get into mad scenarios. I mean, who wouldnt want to watch these two; Richard Richard and Edward Elizabeth Hitler (yes, those are the characters names), attempt to run a corner shop for the afternoon or take a home-made cattle prod out to threaten people on halloween.  So I thought a fun exercise might be to once again wat...

Whatever really happened didn’t matter in the end, not in the great scheme of things. Daily life went on before, and it certainly went on after – albeit a tad more fantastical. But whether the story you are about to read seems strange, I must inform you with the utmost sincerity that despite one death, one thrown out police report and a burial of a story from all government bodies, a day like the day a packet of crisps became sentient will never be seen again. Did the crinkling of the shiny greasy foil make enough noise to wake them up, perhaps it was the chemicals being tested in the new formula for preparing the potato products. One thing was evident though as the first individual crisp woke from non-existence into complete sentience, the world got just a pinch weirder. “Where am I?” One crisp asked. “Who said that?” another answered.
