John-J Anderson

John-J is an author whose work delves deep into the human condition, blending horror, poetry, and real-life experience. He is the five-star-reviewed mind behind Organ, Digging Graves, and Bulldog: Too Many Monsters.

When not writing, he rescues and rehabilitates stray and abused dogs, showing a compassion that stands in stark contrast to the darkness he explores in fiction.

Developing as a Writer

Its the 3rd of March, 2026. I felt it was time for another update, another lurid peak behind the curtain as I do my best to write these stories that rattle around in my head. As you already know, I am working on the third book in the Bulldog series - the final book before I close the cover on this series for good.

Not that I haven't enjoyed writing it, but I dwindled on the completion of the third part for too long and now as I wade through and get to the finish line, I do find myself looking eagerly at other projects sitting in my notes. Just one line ideas that get the creative juices frothing more readily than the idea of finishing this story. BUT, it must be finished and as of right now I have finished the entirety of Franks chapters.

I should explain.

This book will be unlike the first and second which follow a main protagonist (Frank and then Victoria) throughout. Bulldog 3 follows individuals as they navigate the final days of the events from books one and two. If you haven't read the second book, SPOILERS AHEAD. Bulldog 3 follows; Sloane, Vic & Baba, Cleo & Jacob and Frank, these are broken into their own chapters that jump throughout the story and complete the loop of what exactly is going to come from the invasion and the monsters that stalk England.

I must say though, I have really enjoyed writing Franks final chapters in the series and even had a little tear as the final words on his part came to their end. I have only cried three times at my own stories, once for Oscar Rubens in "Organ" (go read Organ, its a great one-shot story), once as I said goodbye to Frank and a third time that I wont discuss right now - just keep an eye out for Bulldog 3 and find out for yourself.

Anyway.

I caught a great movie this morning as I wasted some time with Tan before I sat down to work. Tammy and the Tyrannosaurus Rex, it was awful but amazing. Denise Richards in the late 90s was a smoke show and Paul Walker starring opposite as a giggly teen was silly fun. You know the kind of film that you laugh out loud at while watching due to the sheer ridiculousness of the story or acting, it was like that. It was perfect campy 90s cheap movies and although it had some insane $1Million budget it was not a high budget affair. Watch it and let me know how much you hate me for recommending it.

Back to the Writing.

One other thing about the writing work (can you tell my heads all over the place today). I noticed through rereading of passages from Bulldog 1 & 2 how far my writing has come, I dont have much time for self aggrandising but after seeing what my writing style was like a mere two years ago - I am proud of the difference and to see the signs of a clear personal style coming forward as I write more stuff.

As they say; if you want to be a writer, you have to read and write a lot!.

I don't have anything else to talk about. Go about your day and keep the contents of your bum bag secret, you lathered up little dust mites.
