Quick Update on Angel

Evening, just wanted to drop a quick update to say that I am not going to have a regular blog out this week. I am currently dealing with an ongoing situation with my cat, Angel, but I will be hopefully back to regular blogging next week.

Angel got very sick last week and was rushed into the vets over the bank holiday, she wasn't passing any stool and stopped eating almost entirely. We thought this would be a simple enema situation - as she has a history of this type of problem from the rescue she came from before I took her home. 

Unfortunately it turned into a pretty scary situation in that she was lethargic, wasn't passing any stool, falling over in her litter tray and not eating. She was admitted to the vets as an emergency and was given two small enemas before being given a full enema under sedation as these didn't take. Her blood test revealed she is likely developing chronic kidney disease and will be retested this week for a follow up to establish the next course of care for her. 

It was a truly awful couple of days as Angel was spending the night at the vets, away from our bed for the first time in close to three years. I was naturally not in a good head-space but thankfully, through her own strength and the experts at the vets, Angel came home on Sunday night. 

We are now taking it day by day with her, but the main issue continues to be keeping her fed and hydrated. She loves her water fountain that cost me a small fortune so the water intake doesn't worry me, however she is a very picky eater and while we try a million different brands it has proven difficult thus far. She is back in the vets on Thursday night, but will be coming home and not staying this time.

 Bulldog: Too Many Monsters has been my most successful book release to date. Quickest summary possible for those unfamiliar with the story; its a dystopic military horror set in the United Kingdom after being invaded by an unknown army. Residents are plunged into sick contests to see if they can survive against the mysterious, horrifying, hordes of monsters the invaders have brought with them. That's the elevator pitch anyway.  I came up with the idea after having two dreams back to back that appeared identical, in similar vain as the mini-blurb above. Originally this was intended to be a short story, perhaps a couple of pages, instead this has morphed and oozed itself into a fleshed out series of horror books. The first (Too Many Monsters) has just been temporarily taken off sale while the cover is reimagined in the image I originally envisioned, having sold over 100 copies, it felt like it was slowing down and the right time to get what I dreamt of out of the cover design....

New Life For This Stumbling Corpse

It's a Wednesday, the first in four weeks that I've had off, and guess what I did. I finally landed on that cursed mailing list that has been testing my patience and sanity for weeks. It's done. It's over. The beast of a chore is dead and buried six feet below alongside my aspirations to be a professional wrestler.  Oh, what could have been. When did Bulldog become the enemy?

I am at the daunting midway point of a break from work. The days have trickled by as I mixed up seeing family, farting about in the local towns, playing Diablo 4 with the wife and finally getting my collective faecal matter together in the writing projects that lingered over my burnt out corpse. After having gone through stage zero of my eleven step plan to push book sales, and ideally become a more active writer and less active marketer, I have tidied up the established novels that I have published. Given them a fresh kick up the backside and turned my attention back to the always present task of finishing the Bulldog sequel (Bulldog 2: And Dead Mouths Open).  With the weight of this tarting up of my old works now complete, I have turned my attention to this unfinished follow up and the always nagging task of getting more visible reviews on Amazon to shift more books. Ring the bells and silence the beast in the shed. I have completed and submitted for review the sequel; Bulldog 2: And Dead Mouths Open. This sequel follows immediately up on the events of Frank and Bucket from the Bulldog 1: Too Many Monsters, unravelling more of the mystery behind the invading force that has taken the UK by force. Its a zombie adjacent monster military thriller with elements of science fiction and human survival.  I know every author you read or watch will fan the positive flames of their work with every release, but Bulldog 2 is a really enjoyable book.
